There are several reasons why companies that provide housing for interns are doing it right.
Housing for interns often puts interns into a shared space with like-minded people. Your roommates are your colleagues and your work colleagues are your roommates (good luck with that work/life balance).
Landing that summer internship can be exciting. But it can also come with a fair share of stress. By eliminating the anxiety of finding housing for interns, future interns can focus on other things (like prepping for the job).
A high-quality living space equates to a happier individual. If interns are coming to the job after a poor night’s sleep and a less-than-stellar living situation, this is likely to affect their work performance. Place a budding intern in a comfortable living environment where they start and end their day with a sense of peacefulness, and they’ll do better work. Internships that provide housing, whether that’s through a stipend or an on-site arrangement, show their potential employees that they care.
